Houston Rockets is a professional basketball team of America located in Houston, Texas. They are part of the Southwest Division of Western Conference in the National Basketball Association. The team was founded in the year 1967 and they have played in California, San Diego for 4 years (previous to being relocated in Houston). In the teams’ debut season, the team only won fifteen games. In the NBA Draft during the year 1969, after selecting Elvin Hayes (overall first pick), they appeared in the playoff games for the first time in the year 1969. Moses Malone continued to battle when Elvin was traded. During Malone’s time playing in Houston, Moses won two MVPs and led the team to advance in the Western Conference Finals for his first season playing in the team. Malone carries the team to advance in the finals of the NBA in the year 1981 but they lost against the Celtics in game 6 of the NBA Finals. In the year 1984, the team drafted Hakeem Olajuwon, a future Hall of Famer, and led the team to advance again in the NBA Finals; however, the team was defeated again by the Celtics.

After seven NBA regular seasons, the team lost five times in the 1st round of the Western playoffs. The team didn’t win their 1st championship until the year 1994 when Hakeem led the team to the NBA Finals. The Rockets again became NBA champions in the year 1995. However, they didn’t appear in the NBA Finals once again. They also missed the playoff games for the years 1999 to 2003. The team didn’t advance in the playoff games until Yao Ming was drafted but they lost in the 1st round until the year 2009.
